March 18, 2021
  • This service will permit taking PCR Tests and Rapid Antigen Tests to travellers and crews, who need to prove they underwent these tests during their journey.
  • The service will be managed by the technology company ARQUIMEA, from its area dedicated to health, together with the hospital group Recoletas, leader of private health service, which will provide support in complying with the protocols for the provision of the service and the relevant licenses and authorizations.

18th March 2021 – This week the COVID-19 test service was launched at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas (T4), Malaga-Costa del Sol (T2), and Seville airports which already have open centres in its different departure terminals, where travellers and crew members can take their PCR tests and rapid antigen tests before their flights. Thus, they comply with the requirements imposed by the health authorities in the different destination countries.

The centres, managed by the technology group ARQUIMEA, from its HEALTHCARE area, cover the full service of COVID diagnostic tests and have an online reservation system for prior appointments made through its website www.travelcovidtestcenter.com, facilitating trip planning and avoiding unnecessary queues and waiting.

In the case of Rapid Antigen Tests, the test results will be in 20 minutes, while if you get a PCR test, you will receive it within 12 hours. The certificate with the test result will be sent directly to the traveller’s email and can also be consulted and downloaded online on the reference website. The response time and the price, 58.60€ for a PCR test and 28.60€ for an antigen test, make this service a high-value proposition to solve the current travel and cost problems that, due to the pandemic, international travellers and airlines are having.

The three centres, which will remain open every day of the week, will begin with a schedule from 02:00 to 20:30 at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, except on Sundays when the opening hours will be from 07: 30 to 20:30, from 08:00 to 18:00 at Malaga-Costa del Sol airport and from 08:00 to 14:00 in Seville. The schedules will be extended depending on the flight planning and the expected increase of the activity.

The provision of this service was awarded by AENA to the UTE formed by the technology group ARQUIMEA, which from its HEALTHCARE area provides services and solutions for the prevention and care of people that include preventive diagnosis services for COVID-19 detection tests and who will be responsible for the management of the centres and the performance of the tests. Besides, it was awarded by the hospital group Recoletas, a leader in private healthcare service, specialized in the management of high-tech healthcare resources, which will provide support in complying with the protocols for the provision of the service and the relevant licenses and authorizations.

The UTE is completed by the airport services company GTT and LabGenetics, a genetic laboratory as part of the consortium of laboratories led by ARQUIMEA for the SARS-COV-2 diagnosis.

The criteria that have been evaluated for the award to the UTE Recoletas-Arquimea-Labgenetic-GTT have been the experience in the health sector and clinical analysis, as well as the competitiveness of quality service, in price and on time.
If athe tests results is positive, the health alert protocols established in coordination with the health authorities of the State or the Autonomous Communities will be activated.
