Madrid, November 20. Navantia, a leading company in shipbuilding and systems integration for naval forces, and ARQUIMEA, a technology company specializing in the development and manufacturing of loitering systems, have announced the signing of a collaboration agreement to integrate autonomous systems that will enhance the operational capability, safety, and efficiency of naval missions.
This alliance will allow both companies to jointly explore innovative solutions in the field of naval drones, including surface loitering munitions, intelligent torpedoes, and underwater loitering systems.
The agreement seeks to integrate ARQUIMEA’s autonomous systems into the Spanish Navy’s combat system (SCOMBA) and Navantia’s NAIAD drone integration system, boosting the future capabilities of naval platforms.
According to Ricardo Domínguez, Chairman of Navantia: “This collaboration strengthens Navantia’s capabilities in integrating autonomous systems into its platforms and promotes the use of advanced technologies in the naval domain, giving our ships cutting-edge capabilities and added value for our clients.”
Diego Fernández Infante, Chairman of ARQUIMEA, added: “This alliance reinforces our commitment to driving high-value technological solutions to improve the operational performance and safety of naval forces in their missions. Autonomous systems are a technological advantage that play a key role in today’s global conflicts.”
ARQUIMEA offers a comprehensive range of naval loitering systems, both surface and underwater. The WISE family comprises three autonomous underwater systems with different ranges and capabilities, designed for missions such as surveillance, reconnaissance, mine identification, and naval loitering operations. Additionally, the KRONOS family includes three models of surface naval drones with varying features, technologies, and sizes.
Navantia designs, develops, and integrates high-technology solutions for the Navy and other maritime forces, offering a catalogue that covers the entire lifecycle—from concept and design to maintenance—including the Spanish Navy’s combat system (SCOMBA).
With this collaboration, both companies seek to strengthen their partnership and establish a solid foundation for the future development of naval capabilities based on intelligent autonomous systems.
