ARQUIMEA Research Center took part in the event ‘Diálogos con vistas al Parque’, organized by Kaudal, a gathering that brought together institutional representatives, business leaders, and experts from the scientific community to reflect on opportunities for investment, innovation, and talent attraction in the Canary Islands.
Under the theme ‘Tenerife, a land of opportunity: business, investment and technology on a connected island’, the event highlighted the joint commitment of public institutions, companies, and research centers to consolidating an economic model based on R&D and innovation.
Rubén Criado, General Manager of ARQUIMEA Research Center, emphasized the company’s commitment to talent, applied science, and collaboration with other organizations:
“The world’s most prosperous regions share something in common: an innovation ecosystem and strong public-private collaboration. In the Canary Islands, we have a unique opportunity to build this future model. Projects like QCIRCLE, led by ARQUIMEA with funding from the Horizon Europe program, show that it is possible to attract talent, generate knowledge, and help science have a direct impact on society and the economy.”
Criado also pointed out that European initiatives like QCIRCLE make it possible to:
“Not only develop cutting-edge research in quantum computing, but also create opportunities for local talent to participate in high-impact international projects, connecting the Canary Islands with Europe’s leading innovation hubs.”
During the event, Rosa Dávila, President of the Tenerife Council, highlighted the institution’s strategic role as a driver of change on the island:
“Tenerife aims to become the epicenter of innovation in the Canary Islands. We have one of the largest local budgets in Spain, which allows us to set a clear direction and invest in a knowledge-based productive model.”
Asunción Martín, General Manager of Kaudal, emphasized the need to strengthen the legal environment to make it easier for private investment to flow into the R&D and innovation ecosystem:
“Kaudal is helping make more innovative and viable projects happen in the Canary Islands. Public-private collaboration is proving essential for bringing back talent, creating synergies with technology centers like ARQUIMEA, and driving a sustainable and competitive model.”
The Councillor for Innovation, Research and Development of the Tenerife Island Council, Juan José Martínez, also stressed the importance of projects with a transformative vision:
“The combination of funding and applied science, as represented by Kaudal and ARQUIMEA, is helping attract talent and strengthen Tenerife’s commitment to innovation. We want people trained here to find real opportunities to pursue research careers and launch their own tech startups from the islands.”
‘Diálogos con vistas al Parque’ reaffirms ARQUIMEA Research Center’s commitment to developing a strong innovation ecosystem in the Canary Islands—connected to Europe and focused on global impact. From its headquarters in Tenerife, the center leads strategic projects in quantum computing, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and disruptive technologies aimed at transforming key sectors in the medium and long term.
