Madrid, November 24. Airbus Defence and Space, prime contractor of the Eurodrone Programme, has selected ARQUIMEA to develop a logistic container to transport a critical component. The Spanish supplier will develop and supply specialized transport containers for the Eurodrone’s engines.
Ensuring the logistical integrity of its advanced components is paramount to the Program’s success. To this end, Airbus Defence and Space has formalized a contract for the development and supply of highly specialized transport containers for the drone’s engines. The agreement, signed at ARQUIMEA’s facilities in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), tasks the firm with the complete design, integral development, manufacturing, and qualification of multimodal transport containers.
These containers are engineered to meet the stringent technical and logistical requirements set by Airbus. They must guarantee the engine’s integrity during all phases of handling, storage, and transport—whether by land (truck and train), sea, or air. The specifications demand high structural resistance, precise vibration control, environmental compatibility, and watertightness, ensuring the engines are protected throughout their entire lifecycle.

This contract becomes one of the first falling under the Eurodrone ILS perimeter, whereas the development is technically led by the Ground Support Equipment team of Services at Getafe, and the workpackage has been allocated to Airbus Defence and Space, SAU, in Spain.
This procurement by Airbus is a key step in solidifying the Eurodrone’s complex supply chain. The selection of a qualified European partner underscores the Programme’s goal of strengthening European autonomy and industrial capabilities. The Eurodrone Programme remains a critical advancement in technological interoperability and is central to the European Union’s strategy of reinforcing its Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB).
