Madrid, July 16, 2025 – ARQUIMEA celebrates its 20th anniversary and marks a key milestone in its history.

The Spanish technology company celebrates two decades of sustained growth, international expansion, and investment in R&D. With over 500 professionals, operations across three continents, and annual revenues surpassing €100 million—doubling its turnover compared to the previous year—ARQUIMEA consolidates its position as a global leader in high-tech sectors.

Founded in 2005 by Dr. Diego Fernández, ARQUIMEA has evolved from a science-driven startup into a benchmark industrial group operating in cutting-edge sectors such as aerospace, defense, and security. The company boasts over 26,000 m² of facilities in Spain and the United States, including 13,000 newly added square meters at its Torrejón de Ardoz site, dedicated to defense.
“At ARQUIMEA, we believe in technology as a lever to address the major challenges of our society. Our purpose remains to generate knowledge, create qualified jobs, and develop useful solutions with tangible impact. Reaching 20 years as an independent company, with proprietary technological capabilities and projects worldwide, is a milestone that drives us to continue investing in R&D, technology transfer, and industrial excellence,” said Diego Fernández, ARQUIMEA’s President and Founder.

Global Positioning with Spanish DNA

Throughout its 20-year trajectory, ARQUIMEA has established itself as a trusted technology partner. In the space sector, the company has participated in over 180 international missions with agencies like NASA and ESA, developing thermo-structural satellite components, smart actuators, radiation-hardened chips, optical instruments, and deployment mechanisms.
Recent milestones include promoting the BeetleSat constellation, the CanarySat initiative to operate part of this network from the Canary Islands, and the integration of companies like Iberespacio and U.S.-based Ecliptic, enhancing its capabilities in satellite structures and avionics.

In the defense and security arena, ARQUIMEA specializes in the design and mass production of loitering munitions such as Q-SLAM-40 and Q-SLAM-100, the unmanned naval system KRONOS, and the portable anti-drone solution SkyBlock. Its vertically integrated model enables the company to design, manufacture, and assemble these technologies in-house, with production capacity exceeding 1,000 units per month. ARQUIMEA also partners with leading defense players and holds contracts with NATO and allied defense ministries.

With operations in over 40 countries, ARQUIMEA has built a comprehensive development model based on proprietary capabilities and global clients, reinforcing its international vision while staying true to its Spanish roots.

Driving Science from the Canary Islands: Innovation, Patents, and Tech Transfer

One of ARQUIMEA’s core pillars is its technological center, the ARQUIMEA Research Center, inaugurated in Tenerife in 2020. With a team of over 100 researchers from 13 nationalities, the center focuses on developing advanced technologies that will drive the company’s growth in the medium and long term.
Current research areas include artificial intelligence, post-classical cryptographic photonics, robotics, and biotechnology. The center also leads high-impact European initiatives such as QCIRCLE, a project funded by the European Union to position Spain as a global reference in quantum computing, supported by the Canary Islands government and leading European quantum institutions.

Since its creation, the center has launched over 79 research projects, generated 15 patents, and formed partnerships with top-tier universities such as MIT, Columbia University, and global defense companies like Lockheed Martin and Airbus. These efforts reinforce ARQUIMEA’s commitment to European technological sovereignty through the development of autonomous solutions for space, defense, and security, fully manufactured in Spain.

When new technologies emerge from research that do not directly apply to aerospace or defense, ARQUIMEA spins off companies to develop new solutions. These include Volinga (AI for audiovisual production), Pulsar (dynamic robotic hardware), Connect (secure communication technologies), and Molefy Pharma (developing therapies for neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS). These ventures reflect ARQUIMEA’s commitment to generating useful, sustainable knowledge with transformative potential—both within and beyond its core industries.

Financing and Impact in the Innovation Ecosystem

Understanding the challenges innovative companies face in Spain, ARQUIMEA launched Kaudal in 2016—a subsidiary specializing in financing R&D projects through Tax Lease (technological patronage).
Since then, Kaudal has become a key player in Spain’s Tax Lease market, enabling innovative entities to access funding by transferring tax incentives to investors committed to driving science and technology. To date, it has channeled over €535 million into more than 480 R&D projects in strategic sectors such as health, agri-food, biotechnology, industry, and space.

Qualified Employment and Talent

In 2025, ARQUIMEA plans to expand its workforce by 20%, adding over 100 new professionals in strategic areas. This growth will generate highly qualified jobs in corporate and commercial departments, as well as roles for engineers, PhDs, and researchers with international experience.
Today, the company already employs talent from over a dozen nationalities, highlighting its commitment to diversity, technical excellence, and the creation of a high-value professional environment.
In the words of the company’s President:
“At ARQUIMEA, we look for people passionate about technology, unafraid of failure, who enjoy their work and are ready to pursue truly ambitious goals. Here, we develop technologies that will change the world. Our values are simple: THINK BIG, DO THE JOB, ENJOY LIFE.”
