ARQUIMEA, a Spanish technology company with more than 20 years of experience and global operations in the space, defense, new technologies and fintech sectors, has registered a bond programme with MARF (Spain’s Alternative Fixed Income Market), with a maximum limit of €100 million. The company has also opened the subscription period for the first bond issuance under this programme, targeting €40 million with a four-year maturity.
Through this transaction, ARQUIMEA aims to consolidate its presence in the Spanish bond market, diversify its funding sources and increase its financial flexibility to support its strategic growth plan.
ARQUIMEA first entered the financial markets on December 28, 2021, when it raised €25 million through a five-year bond issuance maturing in 2026, with a coupon of 4.625% and a BB credit rating.
Over the past few years, ARQUIMEA has strengthened its management practices and optimized its resources, enabling it to approach this new issuance with two external assessments: an Investment Grade (BBB-) corporate credit rating from EthiFinance and an ESG sustainability score of 69/100 from Clarity, above the average for its sector. These ratings, together with the growth achieved by the ARQUIMEA Group in recent years, have enabled a substantial improvement in its risk premium.
The new issuance brings together financial institutions that supported ARQUIMEA in its inaugural bond issuance, alongside new institutions contributing their market expertise. Banca March is acting as arranger, while Banco Sabadell will serve as registered adviser and paying agent for the programme. Both institutions will also act as placement agents, together with EBN Banco de Negocios, PKF Attest Capital Markets and Andbank España Banca Privada. Other parties involved in the bond programme include Bondholders, which will act as bondholders’ representative, and Garrigues, which has served as legal adviser.
In its latest audited financial year, ARQUIMEA recorded revenue of approximately €115 million and EBITDA of around €25 million, representing a positive increase of approximately 15% compared with the previous year. This positive trend has continued during the current financial year, with the company expecting to close the year with revenue growth of approximately 35% and EBITDA growth of 25%.
“Continuing to grow in the MARF market is a natural step in ARQUIMEA’s financial development. Complementing bank financing with access to capital markets allows us to extend maturities, diversify our funding sources and increase our visibility among professional investors, while maintaining the financial discipline that has guided our growth. Achieving an Investment Grade rating is a significant milestone, but above all, it motivates us to continue striving for improvement in the years ahead,” said Diego Fernández, President of ARQUIMEA.
With more than 20 years of experience and a workforce of 650 employees, ARQUIMEA has established itself as a technology partner to space agencies such as NASA and ESA, defense and security ministries, armed forces of NATO member countries and leading companies in these sectors.
Its activities include the development of unmanned systems for defense and the design and manufacture of critical systems for space applications. Among its most significant projects in the space sector is the development of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellations.
In-house research and the ability to bring innovations to market quickly and efficiently are among the company’s core pillars. Its research center employs more than 100 researchers specializing in artificial intelligence, robotics, quantum technologies and biotechnology, whose cutting-edge developments contribute to the company’s products and systems.
